Larval Source Management (LSM) module in CMIS

Summary

NMCP, in collaboration with the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) DHIS2 team, introduced the Larval Source Management (LSM) within the Composite Management Information System (CMIS). This database operates parallel to the DHIS2 platform and serves as a dedicated repository for non-health facility data, providing an efficient platform for electronic management of LSM data. The LSM module was implemented to manage organizational data, habitat data and configuration of biolarviciding activities and analytical dashboard. The project aimed to streamline LSM strategies through tailored interventions. Key activities include drafting requirements analysis, customizing LSM data entry forms, developing a mobile app for data entry, and updating the CMIS dashboard for comprehensive data review. The project also focused on conducting user assessment testing, providing training to stakeholders, and offering technical support for sustainable implementation post-deployment.

Impact & Output

The deployment of the LSM module is in pilot stage within the Tanga region: Handeni DC, Lushoto DC, and Tanga City Council where currently the system users are using the system to fill in piloting data. However, the implemented module shows a significant achievement on efficiently managing larvae source data by registering and identifying all habitats, tracking biolarviciding activity rounds and displaying analytical data of all activities performed.
