Dr Ally Bitebo

Bio

Dr Ally Bitebo is a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, College of Information and Communication Technologies (CoICT), at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM). He holds a PhD in Computer and IT Systems Engineering from UDSM (2023), MSc in Software Engineering from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden (2014), and a BSc in Computer Engineering and Information Technology from UDSM (2010).

At the UDSM DHIS2 Lab, Dr Bitebo serves as the Lead for Research and Publications, where he oversees the coordination, quality assurance, and dissemination of research activities conducted through the lab. He provides strategic guidance on how students, academic staff, and partner institutions can effectively engage with the lab to conduct applied research in digital health, health information systems, data analytics, and related domains.

Dr Bitebo plays a key role in mentoring postgraduate students by supporting research design, implementation, and publication processes that leverage DHIS2 and other open-source digital platforms. He also facilitates collaborative research with national and international partners, ensuring that research outputs align with real-world health system needs and contribute to evidence-based decision-making.

His research interests include Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Open Source Software, Internet of Things (IoT), and Machine Learning, with a strong emphasis on building secure, scalable, and interoperable systems for public sector and health applications.
