Bernard Mussa

UDSM DHIS2 Lab Administrator

Bio

I am an academic staff member in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, College of Information and Communication Technologies (CoICT), University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM). As an Assistant Lecturer in the department, I’m involved with teaching, research and consultancy activities. In particular, I’m teaching Web Programming and Databases Implementation undergraduate courses. My general areas of research interests are Data Science, Big Data Analytics, Software Engineering, Machine Learning, Decision Support Systems and Digital Health System Development and Implementations. In particular, within these areas, I’m an active researcher and implementer with extensive knowledge and practical experience in Health Information Systems Development and Implementation, DHIS2 Development and Implementations, Mobile Application Development, Big Data Analytics and Visualization, Data Mining and Machine Learning.

I’m currently pursuing a PhD in Data Science at UDSM. I hold a MSc in Information and Communication Science and Engineering, specializing in Information System Development and Management, from the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST), Tanzania (2014) and a BSc in Computer Science (Hons) from the University of Dar es Salaam (2010) .

Within the UDSM DHIS2 Lab, I’m also the Projects Administrator responsible for the administration and coordination of software projects activities such as project planning, project team management, financial planning and management, activities, and project reporting for all projects running under the lab.
