Tanzania Health Summit Conference 2023

The MD of the National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) and the CEO of Ndanda referral hospital were among the visitors who spent valuable time discussing the co-development of modern solutions to strengthen health systems and beyond during the ongoing Tanzania Health Summit Conference. The UDSM DHIS2 lab developed the Laboratory Information System for the National Health Laboratory and is assisting Ndanda Hospital in integrating their EMR with the HMIS-DHIS2 system through the interoperability adapter (iAdapter) developed by the UDSM DHIS2 lab. Dr. Honest Kimaro, senior Information Systems researcher and project coordinator of the UDSM DHIS2 Lab, was presenting an abstract of the living lab ecosystem to the Tanzania Health Summit Conference audience on the 4th of October 2023 in Dar es Salaam.

The UDSM living lab ecosystem brings together faculty members, research students, UDSM DHIS2 Lab system developers, and UDSM hospital health practitioners to study and develop appealing digital solutions to address gaps in health systems as a means of strengthening health systems. The living lab concept is regarded as a game-changing approach that unfolds the innovation ecosystem in real-world settings to generate impactful solutions.
