NMCP Dashboard

Summary

NMCP in the context of the implementation of the comprehensive malaria and response framework, consulted University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) – DHIS2 Team to develop two distinct and complementary electronic platforms for storage, analysis and use of all available malaria data namely; the NMCP malaria dashboard and, the NMCP composite database. The NMCP malaria dashboard has been developed to facilitate the visualization, interpretation and use of all malaria related information in the DHIS2 platform. The dashboard is currently divided in 5 sections according to the HMIS collection tools and respective indicators: a)Uncomplicated malaria diagnosis (OPD), b) malaria testing (Laboratory/testing sites), c) Malaria Commodities (pharmaceuticals), d) Severe malaria morbidity and mortality (IPD), ande) Preventive services (reproductive and child health). The dashboard electronic platform is available and accessible to all people with DHIS2 login credentials. The NMCP composite database intends to systematically organize and harmonize malaria information collected outside the routine HMIS. It includes: a) survey and surveillance outcomes- e.g. parasitological and entomological data; b) programmatic and operational studies – e.g. therapeutic efficacy and insecticide susceptibility; c) vector control performance indicators, e.g. IRS, LSM and LLIN distribution; d) malaria commodity accountability tool based oneLMISinputs – e.g. LLIN, pharmaceuticals and diagnostics consumption and services delivery; e)malaria services and data quality improvement (MSDQI) monitoring. To facilitate access to the platform, the Malaria Service and Quality Improvement (MSDQI) package and accountability tools of electronic Logistic and Management Information System (eLMIS) outputs are hosted within the Tanzania HMIS – national health data warehouse. The team in collaboration with NMCP and other key stakeholders has also established Mobile solutions for MSDQI data collection (android and iOS) as per requirements. Currently the application is being used to conduct MSDQI Supervision as per available tools and collected data are synchronized to the Malaria Dashboard in the HMIS-DHIS2 system.
