Information Systems Analyst

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), through the UDSM DHIS2 Lab, has supported the design and implementation of open-source DHIS2 and other digital health solutions in Tanzania for over 20 years. The department invites talented 2026 CoICT final-year students to apply for a contractual engagement as an Information Systems Analyst under the UDSM DHIS2 Lab.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Analyse information systems to meet clients’ business needs
- Talk to information system users and clients in gathering requirements
- Develop specifications and requirements for developers/programmers to follow
- Support information system users
- Coordinate and conduct user training
- Collect feedback from system users
- Write technical reports on requirements gathering, system development, system analysis and quality assessment, and implementation activities
- Monitor and report the effectiveness of implemented information systems
- Participate in writing research publications
- Develop protocols for system testing and user acceptance tests
- Analyse and create system quality tests
- Conduct system tests and user acceptance tests (UAT)
Academic qualifications
Final-year students at CoICT undertaking a Bachelor of Science degree in:
- Computer Science (BSc CS)
- Computer Engineering and Information Technology (BSc CEIT)
- Business Information Systems (BSc BIT)
- Telecommunication Engineering (BSc ET)
- Electronic Science (BSc ES)
- Electronic Engineering (BSc EE)
Key qualifications
- Excellent analytical skills, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Proven knowledge and skills in information systems development
- Reasonable knowledge of system development technologies and their application
Added advantages
- Knowledge and experience in software version control techniques and tools
- Ability to travel upcountry when needed and flexibility on working hours and schedules
