{"id":1891,"date":"2025-01-23T12:45:49","date_gmt":"2025-01-23T12:45:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dhis2.udsm.ac.tz\/?post_type=team&#038;p=1891"},"modified":"2025-04-30T10:15:54","modified_gmt":"2025-04-30T10:15:54","slug":"lilian-mkonyi","status":"publish","type":"team","link":"https:\/\/dhis2.udsm.ac.tz\/zh\/team\/lilian-mkonyi\/","title":{"rendered":"Lilian Mkonyi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\" data-start=\"282\" data-end=\"439\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Ms. Lilian Mkonyi is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM).<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">She holds a MSc in Information and Communication Science and Engineering from the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST), and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from UDSM.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"441\" data-end=\"638\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Since 2016, Ms. Mkonyi has been actively involved with the UDSM DHIS2 Lab as a Senior Information Systems Analyst.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">In this role, she has contributed to the design, analysis, testing, and implementation of various digital health systems under the UDSM-DHIS2 project.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Her work has been instrumental in enhancing data availability and usage at both national and subnational levels.<\/span> \u200b<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"640\" data-end=\"805\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Ms. Mkonyi&#8217;s research interests include information systems and machine learning.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">She has co-authored publications focusing on the application of deep learning techniques for early identification of agricultural pests, such as Tuta absoluta in tomato plants.<\/span> \u200b<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"597\" data-end=\"1040\">Ms. Mkonyi has played a pivotal role in several high-impact DHIS2 implementations in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, contributing to the strengthening of data collection, analysis, and use for informed decision-making in the health sector. She has supported use cases ranging from surveillance systems to community health tracking, helping to ensure effective integration and capacity-building among health workers and stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1042\" data-end=\"1573\">In addition to her technical contributions, Ms. Mkonyi has co-authored and contributed to publications and documentation related to digital health system deployment, data governance, and DHIS2 best practices. Her work has been featured in national reports and global knowledge-sharing platforms, reflecting the growing recognition of Tanzania&#8217;s DHIS2 success stories.
