This ensures that reported coverage from facilities to national dashboards reflects the real population landscape.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"874\" data-end=\"1110\">From 8\u201310 September 2025 in Morogoro, stakeholders convened to compare 2012- and 2022-based population projections and assess their impact on key health indicators, moving toward decision-grade reporting across all levels.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1112\" data-end=\"1254\"><strong data-start=\"1112\" data-end=\"1126\">Objective:<\/strong> Ensure accurate, timely, and reliable monitoring by integrating 2022 census-based projections into national health reporting.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1256\" data-end=\"1540\"><strong data-start=\"1256\" data-end=\"1289\">Leadership and Collaboration:<\/strong><br data-start=\"1289\" data-end=\"1292\" \/>The initiative was led by the Ministry of Health (DRMCH, DICT, M&amp;E, and DPS\u2013IVD) in collaboration with PORALG, NBS, NIMR, and the University of Dar es Salaam\u2019s DHIS2 Lab, alongside partners including JSI and Afya Intelligence.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1542\" data-end=\"1571\"><strong data-start=\"1542\" data-end=\"1569\">Key Insights Validated:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1572\" data-end=\"1961\">\n<li data-start=\"1572\" data-end=\"1643\">\n<p data-start=\"1574\" data-end=\"1643\">NBS presented updated 2022 population projections for alignment<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1644\" data-end=\"1866\">\n<p data-start=\"1646\" data-end=\"1697\">Teams compared 2012 vs. 2022 denominators across:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1700\" data-end=\"1866\">\n<li data-start=\"1700\" data-end=\"1757\">\n<p data-start=\"1702\" data-end=\"1757\">RCH<strong data-start=\"1702\" data-end=\"1710\">:<\/strong> ANC, early booking, institutional deliveries<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1760\" data-end=\"1812\">\n<p data-start=\"1762\" data-end=\"1812\">HMIS<strong data-start=\"1762\" data-end=\"1771\">:<\/strong> Outpatient Department (OPD) indicators<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1815\" data-end=\"1866\">\n<p data-start=\"1817\" data-end=\"1866\">IVD<strong data-start=\"1817\" data-end=\"1825\">:<\/strong> BCG, DTP1, DTP3, MR2, and HPV coverage<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1867\" data-end=\"1961\">\n<p data-start=\"1869\" data-end=\"1961\">Identified discrepancies and developed council-level follow-up actions for improvement<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1963\" data-end=\"1988\"><strong data-start=\"1963\" data-end=\"1986\">Strategic Approach:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol data-start=\"1989\" data-end=\"2222\">\n<li data-start=\"1989\" data-end=\"2063\">\n<p data-start=\"1992\" data-end=\"2063\">Evidence-led group analysis with clear methodology and defined limits<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2064\" data-end=\"2140\">\n<p data-start=\"2067\" data-end=\"2140\">Focus on denominator accuracy to ensure meaningful coverage metrics<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2141\" data-end=\"2222\">\n<p data-start=\"2144\" data-end=\"2222\">Targeted interventions to address identified data gaps at subnational levels<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p data-start=\"2224\" data-end=\"2493\"><strong data-start=\"2224\" data-end=\"2249\">Alignment and Impact:<\/strong><br data-start=\"2249\" data-end=\"2252\" \/>This exercise strengthens accurate monitoring and reporting within the national HMIS architecture and supports data-driven decision-making for improved health service delivery, accountability, and equitable resource allocation.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tanzania is improving the accuracy and reliability of health coverage data by aligning national health system denominators with the 2022 Population and Housing Census.
