Dr. Jimmy T. Mbelwa is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in the College of Information and Communication Technologies (CoICT). He completed his B.Sc. in Computer Science and M.Sc. in Health Informatics at the University of Dar es Salaam, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in 2004 and 2010, respectively. He received a PhD in Computer Science and Technology from the Beijing Institute of Technology, China, in 2018. Dr. Mbelwa teaches several courses on Linux system administration, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics to undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has over 15+ years being involved with UDSM-DHIS2 Lab as Senior System Analyst in various projects funded by Global Funds, UNICEF, University of Oslo, NORAD, CDC, WHO, USAID, and NORPART through national and international partners that are aimed at designing, developing, and implementing information systems as well as capacity building. He has also published his research works at international conferences and journals. His research interests include information systems, digital health, computer vision, artificial intelligence and machine learning.
