Hassan Omary

Senior Information Systems Analyst | Researcher

Bio

Mr. Hassan Omary is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), where he has been a faculty member since 2017. He holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from UDSM, earned in 2017, with research focused on the development of multimedia teaching aids for selected physics topics in Tanzanian secondary schools.

In addition to his academic responsibilities, Mr. Omary plays a significant role in the UDSM DHIS2 Lab as a Senior Systems Implementor. Since 2011, he has contributed to the design, analysis, testing, and implementation of various digital health systems under the UDSM-DHIS2 project. His work has been instrumental in enhancing data availability and usage at both national and subnational levels, particularly through the development of national dashboards like the Early Childhood Development (ECD) Dashboard.

Mr. Omary is an active member of the DHIS2 community and has facilitated DHIS2 academies for English-speaking African countries. He holds Level 1 and 2 certificates from DHIS2 Academies, covering areas such as design and customization, data quality, analysis and use, and system integrations.

His research interests include Information Systems, eHealth, mHealth, and Digital Education, reflecting his commitment to leveraging technology to improve educational and health outcomes in Tanzania.
